This event is a collaborative effort between Urban Business Initiative, Sociedad Mutualista Obrera Mexicana, and Camara de Empresarios Latinos de Houston to teach business concepts to those we serve using innovative methods.

About the organizations:

Urban Business Initiative (UBI) teaches those affected by domestic violence how to realize personal and economic empowerment. Using the micro-business creation process, we teach the steps required to define and reach their dreams. Our work happens with area shelters and provides participants with hope for a new and exciting future, free from past challenges.

Sociedad Mutualista Obrera Mexicana (SMOM) was founded in 1932, for the purpose of aiding the poor in the Hispanic Community. We facilitate resources and fill-in the gap where needed. We equip and empower community residents in the Fullerton neighborhood to take action in order to enhance their quality of life.
