Quote of the Day – Weekend

It’s a wild gamble, undertaken by our oldest ever first-time candidate for president in hopes of changing the board of this election campaign. Maybe it will work. But maybe (and at least as likely) it will reinforce a theme that I’d be pounding home if I were the Obama campaign: that it’s John McCain for all his white hair who represents the risky choice, while it is Barack Obama who offers cautious, steady, predictable governance.” ~ Former Bush speechwriter David Frum

McCain’s move, in his vice president candidate, is not just a gamble that threatens the Republican Party chances. It’s a move of desperation that indicates the “State of the Party” is in shaky hands. It is further indication that McCain’s thought process, and his judgment, is faulty, and not to be trusted.

McCain talks about the “lack of experience” of his opponent, Barack Obama. Yet, he would put a relative neophyte, a heartbeat away from the Presidency. And, when that heart is 73 years old, the problem is exacerbated.

Some say it’s all about “choosing a President, not a vice president”. OK, then why choose a vice president? Should we not use the same judgment in picking the person who stands “a heartbeat away”?

We all know the answer to that…..
