Quote of the Day – Weekend

It’s a wild gamble, undertaken by our oldest ever first-time candidate for president in hopes of changing the board of this election campaign. Maybe it will work. But maybe (and at least as likely) it will reinforce a theme that I’d be pounding home if I were the Obama campaign: that it’s John McCain for all his white hair who represents the risky choice, while it is Barack Obama who offers cautious, steady, predictable governance.” ~ Former Bush speechwriter David Frum

  • Let’s establish the fact that everyone is entitled to a certain amount of privacy. But, be careful as to how far that should extend. Certain things tend to indicate leadership, and role-modeling. Those who profess certain “righteousness” must live by the standards they say they believe in, and set for others.

Now, back in the day, when I had a 17-year old daughter, this would not have happened, and been “acceptable” in my household. I wasn’t a “born-again”. But, my wife and my parents were. That would not have been acceptable to them. Ergo, it was not acceptable to me.

Things have changed, you say. OK, let’s get down to what is and is not acceptable…I’m confused….Can I now do some of the things that wasn’t “respectable”, back then. Can I “covet” and stuff; how about “adultery”, and the “thou shalt not kill” stuff…

”Silly” you say. Oh really, I say….

You know what they say about starting down that slippery slope”

Go to AP to get the details. Seems that the family is perfectly okay with it. They’re even talking about how “proud they are” of this obvious violation of the Golden Rules of The Ten Commandments.

When they get to throwing stones, and questioning folks’ “beliefs” and stuff, remember the qualifications for “casting the first stone”.
